12th Annual Golf Classic

ProStart Culinary Arts High School Scholarships

For those who enjoy the outdoors, eating good food, having fun and contributing  to a great cause, the Cleveland Area Restaurant Association has just the answer! You and your friends are invited to attend CARA's 12th Annual Golf Classic, Monday, July 14, 2008. The association will host this year's annual golf outing at the Sweetbriar Golf Club.

The morning will start off at 8:00 AM with Registration. Breakfast, hosted by Bob Evans Restaurants will be from 8:00 AM until 8:45 AM. The outing "4 Person Scramble - Shotgun Start" will be at 9:00 AM. Opportunities for game and raffle prize ticket purchases will be offered throughout the day. Lunch, hosted by Lago Ristorante will begin at 11:30 AM and end at 1:00 PM.  The awards presentation along with raffle and prize announcements will begin at 2:30 PM. Dinner will be prepared and hosted by Carrabba's Italian Grill. Come on out and join the fun!

Proceeds of the golf outing will go in part to benefit ProStart. ProStart is a two-year curriculum designed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation to teach high school students the skills needed for a career in the restaurant and food service industry. Students participate in paid internships with industry mentors. When students meet the academic standards and complete a checklist of competencies, they are awarded the ProStart National Certificate of Achievement that signifies they are well qualified to enter the industry workforce.

The Cleveland Area Restaurant Association (CARA) is happy to support the students and educators of the ProStart program. This year CARA will provide 2 - $2,500.00 student scholarships and 1 - $1,000.00 educator scholarship for continuing education in the food service industry.
